Fire Committee was established by the Town of Oconomowoc Town Board to serve two (2) main purposes. First, the Committee is in charge of reviewing changes to the Inter-Municipal agreement with Western Lakes Fire District (WLFD) to become one of the owners of the Fire District. Town was not accepted as an owner of WLFD and today remains a contracted member of the WLFD. This committee will play a significant role reviewing the inter-municipal agreement should the Village have an opportunity to be an owner in the future.

The second duty imposed upon the Fire Committee was to review the possible implementation of a fire fee. The Committee has studied several options regarding the implementation of a Fire Fee. The Fire Fee has been put on hold as other communities battle through lawsuits.

The committee’s recommendations are advisory only and the committee has no direct power or authority in regard to the operations, staffing, budget, or structure of the WLFD or the imposition of a Fire Fee. The committee may make recommendations to the Village Board on any of those issues or other matters that affect the fire and rescue services provided to the Village of Lac La Belle.
